Regimanuel Gray crowns October with Pink Lessons

In an effort to raise breast cancer awareness globally, October has been designated as The Pink Month. October is usually dedicated to educating people throughout the world about the disease with efforts intensified to highlight early detection and symptoms with the aim of saving as many lives as
possible.

To commemorate The Pink Month staff of Regimanuel Gray Ltd, also known as ‘The Burgundy Team’, hosted a medical team from Solic Medical Centre to an insightful session of Breast Cancer Education followed by individual screening sessions to be undertaken by staff at suitable times throughout the
rest of the year.

Dr Ekow Daniels, Chief Medical Officer of Solic Medical Centre, took the team through a detailed session of risk factors (modifiable and non-modifiable), symptoms, breast self-awareness, and screening types for breast cancer. He emphasised, throughout his presentation, the need to be proactive about ensuring optimum personal health for staff. He highlighted that about 90% of early-stage breast cancers are curable, often when medical reports of breast screening are taken seriously and treatments are started early.

Every year, breast cancer kills more than 500,000 women around the world. In resource-poor localities, a majority of women with breast cancer are diagnosed at an advanced stage of the disease, resulting in very low survival rates.
